Welcome to the latest news from the Association.

Shropshire’s Rural Housing Association Appoints New Chairman

At its meeting at the end of September the Board of Shropshire Rural Housing Association elected Mrs Heather Kidd as its new Chairman to take over from Mrs Madge Shineton who had bravely stepped into that post until a replacement could be found for the late John Morris-Jones.

Mrs Kidd was until recently Leader of South Shropshire District Council and brings a wealth of housing knowledge and experience to the Association. As well as her experience with South Shropshire she is the housing Portfolio holder for the Shropshire Partnership and sits on the West Midlands Housing Executive.

Alternative Energy Supplies

The Association has recently completed an  Agreement with an organisation named EBICo Ltd which is able to supply gas and electricity to the homes of many of our residents at charges which can be significantly lower than those often charged by the traditional regional suppliers.

EBICo is a non-profit making company which has been established specifically to provide a new kind of market choice for energy users and aims to help provide a fair deal for people regardless of how much energy they use or how they pay for it. With EBICo as a  supplier:-

  • There are no standing charges for energy supplies, even for those with prepay meters

  • There is one fair tariff for all, regardless of how they pay (people with pre-pay meters pay far more for their energy than do those who pay quarterly or by direct debit).

In general, EBICo’s tariffs offer better value for people who have pre-pay meters and those who pay after receiving a quarterly bill than for those who pay by direct debit but even this last group may obtain some benefit. Their electricity tariffs also vary slightly according to which electricity area a customer resides in.

Tenants of the Association wishing to obtain their energy from EBICo can obtain an application form from the Association’s office.
